IT.next recently participated in the LegisTech: The Americas conference in Brasilia, which took place on April 13-14, 2023. The company’s CEO was a part of a panel discussion on participation tools in the legislative process alongside Rocío Noriega from the National Congress of Chile, Alisson Bruno de Queiroz from the Federal Senate of Brazil, Jonathan Ruckert from NovaWorks Australia, and Pedro de Neri from the National Assembly of Angola. During the discussion, the panelists shared their experiences and views on integrating participation channels in the legislative process using innovative technology.
They also discussed the challenges of building inclusive participatory systems in representative democracies. While the pandemic has accelerated the use of digital tools in democratic procedures worldwide, the experts agreed that there is still more work to be done in engaging citizens, especially the youth, in the legislative process and ensuring the reliability and transparency of participatory tools.
